Foreword by Alison Gaydon
Chris and I began jiving way back in October 1996 when we started learning at Lyve Jive®. Those first few lessons seem a bit of a blur now, but we can still remember trying out our first steps to Rock Around The Clock. Yes, even after one lesson we were dancing and we haven't looked back since! The months have flown by since we began our dancing adventures and now we have discovered other dancing styles, blues, lindy-hop, swing, not to mention airsteps. Airsteps are energetic moves, which need plenty of floor space to perform safely and are not for the faint-hearted. There's so much to learn , but jive can be picked up quite easily, unlike ballroom dancing, and you don't have to worry about your feet.

If you live in the Horsham area, West Sussex, then give Lyve Jive® in Broadbridge Heath a go. Dave and Lyn are excellent teachers and you'll soon be doing the pretzel, octopus, slinky seducer and much more. Lyve Jive® is reputed to be one of the friendliest clubs in the south.

If you would like to find out more about big and baby airsteps, then the people to contact are Andy and Rena at Jump 'n' Jive. They are two of the most enthusiastic dancers that you will probably ever meet. You'll soon find their enthusiasm, bouncy personalities and dancing style will infect your dancing too. In addition to teaching airsteps, they also teach Lindy Hop at various venues and hold week-long dancing holidays on the Isle of Wight. If this all sounds a bit too energetic for you then why not try dancing the Blues with Nigel and Nina, two of the best blue dancers in the U.K.

If you want to try out different dancing styles & improve your jiving, then the events for you are the thrice-yearly UK jive weekends, organised by Jive Time. As well as workshops, there are dances during the evenings with the opportunity to dance with some of the best jivers in the country. We strongly recommend that you give these events a try.
